Support the LGBTQ+ community

Celebrate Pride Month

A standard tactic of authoritarian governments is to target specific groups as “others.” Regimes spread disinformation describing specific groups as threats to the nation’s values, culture, safety, or economy. This “othering” permits the regime to dehumanize group members and stoke anger toward them.  The resulting anxiety and fear among the general population allows the regime to consolidate power, distract from government failures, and manufacture crises which they can be seen as managing. Populations being “othered” by the current regime include African Americans, immigrants, and the LGBTQ+ community. The RESIST Network encourages you to support our neighbors, especially those being “othered.”
