The Resist Network urges you to
BOYCOTT AMAZON
The RESIST Network reviews national companies recommended for boycotts and, using our own criteria, decides which ones to endorse. Amazon makes large financial donations to the administration in order to curry favor, it’s Web Services facilitate tracking of immigrants by ICE, and they obstruct unionization.
Our policy for endorsing a boycott also requires that an alternative is available. We have spent over a month testing the Walmart home delivery service and found it to be an equivalent alternative. The RESIST Network is recommending a permanent boycott of Amazon shipping service. We recommend buying local, if possible, but consider Walmart to be an equivalent shipping service.
A report of our testing is in the Attachment.

The RESIST Network urges you to boycott Amazon’s home delivery service and buy local or use Walmart shipping. Before making this recommendation we spent over a month testing the Walmart shipping service.
Walmart shipping service:
Walmart offers a membership service with free delivery or a pay-as-you-go shipping service. We tested both and recommend them as a good alternative to Amazon.
Our tester enrolled in the Walmart membership service. It included a one month free trial and the subsequent one year membership ($98) and included a choice of two streaming services, Paramount or Peacock. The test of the shipping service included making orders and a review of the inventory available. Several orders to a home in the urban fringe of Gainesville have been made and the customer service (i.e. speed of delivery and notice of progress) was equivalent to Amazon’s. The quality of merchandise was satisfactory. One morning around 9:00am an order was made for a delivery in Southern California and it was delivered the same day. Another order sent to a home in the city of Alachua arrived a day earlier than scheduled, and a regular Walmart customer in High Springs reports satisfaction with the home delivery service. An item delivered to the tester’s home was returned without difficulty. The return locations are Fed Ex and the Walmart store. A review of their web site found the Walmart inventory was broad and prices competitive. In many cases the price for Walmart was slightly less than Amazon.
Other Services
In addition to the shipping service, Walmart offers home delivery for items available in store which, if the goods cost more than $35, is free, although they add a 10% tip, which the customer can change. The items were delivered on time, and several texts were sent updating the customer on progress. The cold items arrived cold (tester lives 20 minutes from the store). They also offer online ordering and pick up in the parking lot. This pick up option was timely and, again, the produce, cheese, etc. was still cool. The produce was fresh and consistently high quality. One caveat. Do not request or accept the One Pay credit card they offer. The software for this service is dysfunctional at this time
